The iPad USB-C port is used by both a charge cord and a sound jack adapter for sound. If the iPad is charged while plugged in to an amplifier, there will be a loud hum. Is there any way to prevent this, or must Bluetooth sound be used while charging?

Using a USB-C hub I have been able to connect both the charger and an amplifier but when charging there is only a loud hum from the sound. I think there may be one or two solutions:

  1. Use only Bluetooth for sound
  2. Purchase a special docking station that switches off charging when the sound circuit is active.

Does anyone know if such a docking station is available?

As described, you may have electrical ground-loop - or inadequate earthing of your audio system. Check that your Amplifier’s power supply is properly earthed.

Also check that you are using properly shielded audio cables.
