About a Flickering Mac Screen:

A. Your Screen is Failing:

I have come across this on my 2017 Mac. The connector between the LogicBoard and the screen was loose, and I had to send it in for service 11 times. Being during COVID, I had to send this in 11 different times. Today, the option for this is to take it in for service. So take this in for service, ASAP.

B. So, Get this Mac Serviced...

Contact Apple, and setup a Genius Bar Appointment or see an AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) in your local area.

A. Contact Apple:

• Contact Us - Choose Locations
• Proceed from there as Necessary
• NOTE: Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, calls are taking a bit linger to get through. And, that makes sense, because many are at home working out-of-the-house or are taking classes over-the-web, this they have more time on their hands to contact Apple Support. So, it might take a bit to get through to Apple Support. But, just stay on the line, and someone will be with you.

Or...

B. Contact an AASP: 

1. Go Here: Find Locations - Apple Authorized Reseller
2. Click: Service & Support
3. Enter: your location information
4. See: if there is an AASP nearby
5. Contact: an AASP that shows up, and find out more about the services that they offer to fix the Mac

Hardware failure. Contact Apple or an authorized service provider for a repair.

Get a complete and current backup.

Then move the dock to the side, pending repair: Change Desktop & Dock settings on Mac - Apple Support

Command-Space can be used to activate apps, by entering the app name as the search.

Restart the MacBook Pro using these steps found at Shut down or restart your Mac - Apple Support:

• On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > Shut Down.

If you don’t want app windows that are open to reopen when your Mac restarts, deselect “Reopen windows when logging back in.”

A Mac is completely shut down when the screen is black. Some computers also don’t show an active power light or have any fan or drive noise.

Important: If you’re using a Mac laptop, wait for it to shut down completely before closing the display. If you close the display while the Mac is shutting down, it may not shut down properly and may start up more slowly the next time you turn it on.
