MacOS autocorrect undo from the keyboard

I'm typing on the mac. Autocorrect corrects the word that I just typed after pressing space. That's fine. I want to undo this correction, so I press backspace. At this point the original word is shown in the bubble with a little arrow. How could I apply this without going there with the mouse or touchpad? To type faster and not to break the flow, I need to do this from the keyboard rather then to go via mouse which slows things down.

I know that you can press esc when autocorrect offers the word before correction, but I need to have this after it, as I'm typing too fast and hit space, only after then I realise the word is not the one I wanted.

Thanks for ideas!
