Clearing open apps

How do you clear past open screen from iPhone and iPad. The old way does not seem to work on the recent version

Closing Apps in iOS 16 When you restart iOS 16 on the iPhone or iPad, all the apps that I had open are opened again. I need to close them all since I often do presentations on these two devices and I do not want the other apps to appear. Is there any way to do this quickly instead of swiping with 1, 2, or 3 fingers???

Swipe up on the Home Screen and you will see the open apps on an iPhone with Face ID. On an iPhone with Touch ID double tap the home button.
