How to turn off hearing devices and listen to room?

Using MFi with multiple Apple devices (iPhone and iPad) works great with one big exception. If someone is talking to you there is no easy to stop MFi from streaming to your hearing aides. The only way that I have found is to turn off Bluetooth on ALL the devices you have near you. For example, if you turn Bluetooth on your iPhone it will quickly connect to your iPad if Bluetooth is enabled there. I could turn off the Audio handoff feature but that would make switching between the iPhone and the iPad very cumbersome.

What makes sense to me is to triple click the side button, select hearing aids, and click something like “Mute” or “Mute for 30 minutes”. When muted none of your apps on any of your devices can stream to your hearing aides
