GPS Locations Not Accurate On CarPlay

I'm technologically inept and can't figure this one out. GPS on Google or Apple Maps works perfectly fine on both (wife) of our phones when not connected to CarPlay. I even tested it out over the weekend by by using Navigation (not connected to CarPlay) while driving to a few locations that were at least 30 minute drives. But, the minute we connect to CarPlay the Navigation starts having issues. During today's commute to work the GPS location on CarPlay had me about 5 miles North of my actual location. As soon as I disconnected CarPlay the GPS location on my phone was 100% accurate. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Your car does have GPS that its navigation software can use, but that does not mean that CarPlay uses GPS at all. Talk to your vehicle Service department, or confer with the vehicle manual to see if there is additional information about this car model and CarPlay.

One possible short answer is that the manufacturer's entertainment device in the car's dash does not have a GPS receiver in it from which Apple's CarPlay could possibly be more accurate — if CarPlay were receptive to GPS signals at all.

Your phone does have a GPS receiver in it.

Did you ever get a response to this?

I also have this problem with both Maps & google maps when connected to car play. My car is a 2023 as well. I have been bringing my work phone (android) with me as a back up on longer trips.

I'm just curious if you found a fix.

Thanks. The car is a 2023. Just took it off the lot. I would assume it has GPS radio. We don't have issues in our other car. (A 2022 model)
