Using an Apple Gift Card Partially

I recently purchased an iPad Air 5 and a MacBook Air using the student discount.

Applecare for a year for the MacBook is $69 and for two years, for the iPad is $79.

So, would it be possible for me to use my $150 student gift card from the MacBook purchase to pay for both Applecares?

Or does one have to use the giftcard completely in one purchase?
