Log in password
When loading software for new printer I am asked for user name and password. Have no idea what password is- it gives me endless attempts. It is an old Mac with sierra 10.12.6

It would help if we knew exactly where in the process you are seeing this. If you are downloading it from the App Store it would be your Apple ID/Account password. If when installing it is likely asking for your computer user log-in password.
