Compressor Delaying Recording and/or Take

When recording both midi and audio into Logic Pro, the recording seems to be delayed a small bit but noticeable. I few months ago I realized that using a compressor would slow things down so ive been waiting to put on compressors until the mastering stage of the project but have slowly realized how inefficient it is. I've closed out of large apps if opened and switched my buffer size, which both does near nothing. Any ideas why this might be the case? (if one compressor is opened on any instrument or bus then everything recording will slowdown).

I've also noticed this can happen on both small and large files. I'm running a project with 75 tracks and works smoothly until I add 1 compressor.

1. Do you notice a difference in latency when using Logic Compressor versus Native Instruments Supercharger?

2. Do you add the compressor for each of the 75 tracks in your project ?

3. Latency doesn't usually "fade in after a minute of use". It's there immediately after inserting the plugin.

4. Side-chaining results in more latency.

5. All generated latency is added together.

6. You can hover with your mouse over the plugin inserts in the mixer to see the latency. See the screenshot.

7. What sound card are you using?

8. Are you using pitch-related plugins and / or flexed tacks?

• Which compressor are you talking about? Apart from the fact that any plugin will cause latency, an average compressor should not have any noticeable impact.

• Just to clarify. You are running a session with 75 tracks, and you have used only one (!) plugin ( --> a compressor) in the entire session that causes noticeable latency? That's very strange.

• What "buffer size" are you talking about? "I/O Buffer Size" (that's the size that affects latency) or "Process Buffer Range"?

I tend to use the included Logic Compressor although I occasionally use Supercharger by Native Instruments
I am using 1 or more plugins on each track and/or bus. When I add only one compressor to anything the latency fades in after a minute of using.
I'm referring to I/O Buffer Size

Sorry for the lack of clarity. I will also add that I use compressors for side chaining 70% of the time.
