Last four digits of Apple Card do not match transaction card used

Last four digits of Apple Card do not match the transactions of the Apple Card used. In other words, my card number ends in xxxx but when I look at the transaction at the retailer the "Apple Card" number is yyyy. This is typical for many transactions, sometimes with a different number (zzzz). I only have one card associated with Apple Pay on my iPhone. A private company is telling me that he didn't get paid but the transaction says it was paid, but the four digit number does not match any card.

Please clarify the transaction Apple Card number vs Apple MC card number. Thank you

Your Apple Card MasterCard has three different sets of numbers. Each set is used differently. One set is for when you swipe the card or use the chip in a transaction terminal. Another set is when you need to manually enter card data (card number, CVV 3 digit security code and expiration date) online or if the merchant needs to manually enter a number. The third and final set is for use with Apple Pay and it’s the most secure way to pay because of the encryption of your data and use of a token to insure the bank authorization can only be used once.

The last four digits of the mag stripe/chip number and the Apple Pay number are available for you to use for refunds.The entire number is available for your use online etc. Please read the support article linked below to learn how to access the numbers.
