Unable to sign into IMessage on iPad

iPad wasn’t showing messages that were in iPhone. Turned off iMessage and when I tried to sign in the spinning thing never connected just keeps

on spinning.

If you are experiencing difficulties with activating iMessage or FaceTime, this support page may help with troubleshooting:

If you can’t turn on or sign in to iMessage or FaceTime - Apple Support


As for your initial problem concerning synchronising messages between your iPhone and iPad, assuming that both are signed-in to iCloud with the same AppleID, to send and receive SMS/MMS messages (green bubbles) from your iPad you must explicitly enable Text Message Forwarding for your iPad on your iPhone...


On your iPhone:

Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding - set to ON - and explicitly enable your iPad from the list of devices.


Also ensure that Messages in iCloud is enabled on both your iPhone and iPad:

Settings > [Your Name / AppleID] > Messages - set to ON
