iPad not charging

I upgraded both my iPhone and iPad. I now have the 9th generation iPad and 3rd generation iPhone SE. (I hate that they’re doing away with the home button.) I got a 20 watt charger with the iPad and got another one on Amazon for my phone. I wanted 6 foot cords, so I got them from Amazon too. They were all rated MFi compatible with Apple products. They seem to work with the iPhone, but sometimes with the iPad, it will charge to 96 or 97% and then it will actually say at the top “not charging”. I tried to do a forced start, but all that did with the home button is take a screenshot. My iOS is up to date and the battery wasn’t too warm. Would it be better to purchase the 6 foot cords from Apple or is there something else I can try?

Hey there Celtic Fairy,

Best to always buy official Apple accessories, especially charging cables and adapters. If you buy a cable from another store, suppose from a two euro store, this cable can damage your battery and you will have to replace your battery sooner. Cases from other brands won't hurt your phone because they sit around your phone and are not linked via power with your iPad, iPhone, etc.

So, long story short: Best buy Apple cables for charging your devices.

Here is a link directly to all Apple cables:

Always check which charging port you have in your iPad. Newer models have a USB-C port.

Hopefully this answer helped you,

Enjoy your day!
