need to disable switching screens on iMac

I’m unable to open two programs on the monitor — when I do it switches screens! . This is impossible I need to see them both at the same time!

iMac 21.5″, macOS 12.6

If you mean you want both displays to act as a single continuous (extended) display, disable "Displays have separate Spaces" in the Mission Control System Settings (Under Desktop & Dock).
