Dual Monitor display fixing programs to one or the other and a particular desktop

I have an 2017 iMac Pro with an additional display (the original Apple 27” TB), on logging in I have a number of programs open (reopening last session) is there a way to force these programs to open on a particular monitor and desktop (eg I have 4 desktops on main display and three on the additional one)? I have four programs I want on desktop one of the additional display plus one on that monitor’s second desktop and a Safari window on it and desktop 3. The main monitor I want programs on desktops 2-4 and nothing open on one.

Is there a way to do this?

This is supposed to work without additional software.

You should just place the applications on the display and Desktop you want, and then click and hold the respective Dock icon and choose "Assign To: Desktop in Display 1" (or 2 as the case may be).

Also, to make sure that Desktops stay put, make sure that "Automatic rearrange Spaces..." in System Settings->Desktop & Dock is turned OFF.

Try the Utilities “Stay” or “Moom”. Both are paid 3rd party apps, but they have a demo period.
