When I press on a photo’s icon, I get a menu but no Rename (I-Phone 11)

I see no built in way to rename a photo and to replace the IMG _001 file name. You can send a photo to the files app and rename it in there but when you send it back to the photos app, the new name is not shown. It still comes up as IMG_001

iphone photo filenames when downloading I'm using an iphone 13 mini, IOS 16.4.1. When I take pictures with the camera app, and use a USB to download images to my laptop (windows 10), the filenames are in the form IMG_1234.jpg (sequentially numbered). This is great. When I take pictures with at least two other apps for scanning pictures (Genius Scan and Photomyme), the photos seem to show up in the camera roll with the a filename with a date and time stamp. But when I go to download those images via USB, the filenames for both apps change to what appears to be a random name in the form XXXX9999.jpg, where "X"s are random letters, and "9"s are random numbers. At first I thought this was from the app, but then when I get the same behavior from 2 different apps, it seems more like the OS doing something? Is there a way to change this, to use either the app's chosen name, or a sequential name? For comparison, if I choose to email these images from the camera roll, the filenames of the attachments are exactly what the apps said they would be. So it seems to be something specific to accessing the files via USB. Though emailing isn't practical as I would have hundreds or thousands of images to transfer. This is important as I need images to remain in the exact same order in which they're taken. If the filename is random, I can't do this. I can't sort on date/time, as it doesn't contain seconds, and there are often multiple images taken within the same minute, making the order ambiguous. Or alternatively, a way to get the date/time stamp to contain seconds should also resolve it. Thank you.

Renaming a photo Hello, why am i unable to RENAME the photo in iPhotos on my iPhone? I can only add a keyword or a title, but UNABLE to change the NAME of the file. for example, its like this: IMG_1104.HEIC, i want to make it: "clouds rain precip.heic". How can i do it?? I need some serious help on this one, thanks

Iphone Video Filenames We are using iphones as dedicated cameras in a recording studio.... We noticed when one of these iphones had been wiped and started from scratch, the videos that came from it started being named IMG_0001.mov Is there a way to reset this count of filenames for photos/videos besides a full wipe of the phone? This would be good to keep everything squeaky clean. Noticed others here asked about changing the filenames to entirely something else but no support for that currently. It's a long shot but we're curious if this file naming counter can be reset by some action while using the phone. Thanks.

You can add a caption by tapping on the icon with the lower case "i" at the bottom of the screen. However, I do not believe it's possible to rename the file from Photos on an iPhone.

Tap on the sharing icon at the bottom left (box with an arrow coming out of it). Select "Save to Files".

When you locate the photo or any file in the files app, tap and hold down on the file to bring up the contextual menu where the third option is to rename the file.

Renaming files
