Consumer Cellular

I have consumer cellular for my service plan and they are advertising consistently now that they added compatibility for Apple Watch cellular service. I have received several emails and advertisements in the mail as well. They direct you to open up the watch app and activate cellular service but when I go there to set it up, the Apple Watch app says that consumer cellular doesn’t currently support Apple Watch. When will this be updated on the Apple side so that we can set up our Apple Watches as consumer cellular is allowing.

Apple Watch Series 2, watchOS 6

Please use the notes in Set up cellular on Apple Watch - Apple Support as a checklist, and be aware you might need to have some configuration done on your iPhone's plan to allow Apple Watch access cellular service.

I also notice your post in this thread shows you selected Apple Watch Series 2 as the device in question. The first watch to support standalone cellular was Series 3 - so I assume your choice of Series 2 was a finger error.

As for when Apple will provide support in the Watch app, Consumer Cellular is already listed in Apple Watch - Carriers - Apple so it should be enabled now. Check you have the latest software update on your iPhone, you should be using iOS 16.6 which was released last week.

That sounds like a good plan. You will certainly need the add-on Apple Watch service on your iPhone's plan, most networks have a small monthly charge for this.

I will point out that "still nothing" is not a particularly helpful feedback. If you are able to make a note of what you do and the observed result for each stage (to identify which step goes wrong) it will be more useful particularly when you start talking to the network support team. Remember, they will all be new to this too, and you are their remote hands and eyes.

Oops, I definitely must have just selected my old watch, I have a brand new se watch that should have cellular capabilities. I have confirmed my software is updated to both mentioned in the thread for both phone and watch. I have followed what you posted to use as a checklist and still nothing. Next I’ll try to call consumer cellular but I assume they have already done their part since they are sending me mail and email on how to set it up. They obviously know I want it.
