My Iphone11 Pro got problems with Location Service after updating to the latest IOS 16.6. Even if I try to reset Location Service, restart apps or restart the device. Seems that all my apps that using Location Service fail to get location and get stuck. For example, Weather App, Yr App (another weather app) , and Google Map. Please consider fix this error ASAP.

My Trial-and-error works but just you will miss an important feature, Find my phone. I turned off the feature Find My iPhone. Now all my location service is back to normal.
First, in settings, search the Location Services, then in Share My Location, turn off Find My iPhone.
Second, you need to reset the settings->general-Transfer or reset iPhone->reset->Reset Network Settings.
After it is back. then re-attach to WiFi and other stuffs, allow apps to use location services, etc. as normal.
It works for me for a day now. I think it is fine, but Find My iPhone is important. Waiting for the real fix.
Some people successfully fixed this problem by doing the factory reset. I didn’t try it yet. Just in case you want to try it out.
In Weather App, there is a cross out on the Location sign at the bottom left of the page.
In Yr app, the default Location base forecast is keep show running sign.
And in Google map, the current location show the previous one 1-2 hour before and stop at that location, navigating is not work.
All these app already set Location Service to “Always”.
I am having the exact same issues and have spent hours at the Genius Bar trying everything that's been mentioned in this forum. Nothing works - or, I should say, it works for a brief time then stops again - no maps, directions, location, etc. Affects Find My and other important apps like Uber and Lyft. This is happening with 3 of our 7 family members, but the non-affected ones have not upgraded to 16.6. I also upgraded to 16.6.1 and nothing. Heading to the Apple Store right now for a replacement phone, but not hopeful as they already replaced the insides of my current phone. I have a 13 Pro. While this doesn't seem like its affecting millions - it is HUGELY SIGNIFICANT PROBLEM for those who are affected. None of the Geniuses have a solution. How do we elevate this to Apple?
So far everything has been fine in IOS17. No issues with Carplay either now. Apps are working fine for now. I have Iphone 12 Pro Max that had the Location Services issue from IOS16.6. Been happy so far.
I’ve updated to the IOS17 for more than a week. (now updated to 17.0.2), my Location Service still work. The location problem has been resolved.
Yeah it’s still working for me suwat49. Had no problems since I reset my network settings.
Heard it can be fixed by turning on two-factor authentication. I'm gonna try that if it works posted here so we know.
I have been lucky so far with not opening Find My on iPhone still. Weird that it helps my phone. Been over a day now. Carplay also working with no issues since not opening Find My. Hopefully will keep working until fix is found. Using ipad for Find My as of now.
I am having the same issues, however tried the suggested fixes (Find my and rest network settings). I had luck for about 30 minutes and then lost location services again. This has been going on since the beginning of August and so frustrated, I have spent hours with Apple Tier 2 support who is takign this to the engineers but does not seem to come back with anything of value to solve the issue. I assume this is when the ios16.6 was installed on my phone, strange that it is only affecting a small about of users. My wife has the same issue, but my two kids, not.
I cannot access UBER and other third party apps where I need use my location to operate, but others do work and show my location. Apple Maps does not work, but Google Maps is working.
Apple sent me a new phone, that did not work, we installed it as a new phone, without my data, so it was not the data coming over, the only thing I used to set up the new phone was my apple ID, could have something happened with my specific Apple ID and the 16.6 release?
was hoping 16.6.1 was to solve this, but no luck.
again, I have spent probably 20 hours of time on with apple support and at the local apple store. still nothing.
maybe time to move away from this platform.

Yes, you are not alone. Many users suffered from this bug. It happened after upgrading to IOS16.6. I’m not sure whether Apple support team can figure out the cause of problem yet but I think they already aware of this problem. I’m very frustrated of this problem for a month now.
My husband, daughter and I all updated to iOS 17 and things appear to be working normally. I'm not celebrating just yet, as we've been working before with some random "fix" and then have lost location after a day or 2. I'll report back if things change. While this is encouraging, it's super frustrating to not know what happened and why.
I have ios 17.2.1 apple14 and my location has not worked since the update as well as someone else in my household. I reset location and network. This fixed it for one day but then stopped updating location.
Is it possible to downgrade to 16.5.1?
Problem with Location service is really real pain for many Apps I used. Very disappointed.

Has anyone tried resetting to factory default and full restored from backup like a new Iphone, I wonder if that method solved the problem?
