4k external monitor limited to 60hz after updating to Ventura 13.5

I forgot what OS I had before I updated to the latest ventura, but I was able to use my external display, a 32" 4k display that supports up to 144hz, just fine.

After updating, the refresh rate dropdown only shows 60hz and can only access 144hz when I lower the resolution.

I use a USB-C dock that supports 4k to triple digit refresh rates.

My laptop is a Macbook Pro M1 base model (2020).

Seems like many others are experiencing similar issues but it hasn't been addressed for a long time.

What's going on and is there a solution?

Hi AceVentura135,

One thing you may try is to hold the Option key on your keyboard while accessing the resolution options on your Mac. In the Display section of Settings, holding the Option key and then clicking one of the preset options in the line containing icons of For Larger Text, Default, More Space and then toggling the "Show all resolutions" may provide you with additional options you can choose from.

If that doesn't help, it would be important to see if the behavior is the same when connected directly to the Mac rather than through the hub/dock you mentioned. If so, there may be something in that accessory preventing the function you seek.

If not then checking with the display manufacturer to assess if additional firmware or setting adjustments are necessary could be in order.
