connect imac to ipad using bluetooth

Several months ago I bought all brandnew iMac 24 pro, iPad pro, iPhone 14 pro. Now I want to connect these devices via bluetooth. On my iMac I go to settings, bluetooth, switched on. I see several devices, I have connected with no problem. However, neither iPad nor Iphone appears in the list. I have the settings menu bluetooth open on iPad and iPhone. On both I see my iMac in the list, iff I tap on that, I get a return message " iMac not supported". Exactly the same happens if I try this with my iPhone.

If I try to connect my iPhone with my iPad, I see it in the list, tap on it and I get a return message, connection not made.

I can hook up both decvices with a cable, works fine. I also see the devices under settings Apple ID.

So it's a few problems. Please help.

What are you trying to accomplish by connecting them over bluetooth exactly?

Direct bluetooth pairing between Macs, iPhones and iPads is not supported and never has been, nor is it required for most thing that use Bluetooth. The only requirement its that bluetooth be turned on.

Thanks for your reply. I have installed a Logitech MX Keys mini for Mac keyboard on my Mac. This keyboard has an easy switch option, which allows you to switch between 3 bluetooth devices. In the setup you have to make a pick out of the available devices in your Mac settings / bluetooth. I want to use this keyboard om my iPad, but it is no option in the Mac setting. Any suggestion? Thank you.

The Bluetooth pairing will be between the keyboard—that presumably with a different host device selected for pairing on the keyboard via some keyboard local switch—and the host to be associated with that switch.

Not from Mac to iPad, nor iPad to Mac.

That you have a Mac and an iPad is immaterial here—it could be any hosts. Any up to three hosts with Bluetooth keyboard support, that is.

Basically, you do the following pairing sequence up to three times, one for each computer or iPad you want to pair with…

The switch would to have to be done through they keyboard, not from the Mac.

You need to pair the keyboard to each device separately as described in its own instructions, then press the 1, 2 or 3 keys with the device icon in the top middle of the keyboard to switch between paired devices.

You do not and cannot pair the 3 devices to each other, you pair them to the keyboard once at a time.

Got it done. In fact it’s very easy if you know what to do. Where I got confused is using Logi Options on my Mac. If you start this up you will see on the left your mouse, click on it and you go to the settings. Likewise on the right side your keyboard. However, on the top of the screen you see a + add device. I thought that it was there where I could connect the keyboard to my iPad… because if you do click on add device it will open a new window with 4 options, on the bottom bluetooth. Click on that and it will open your Mac’s settings bluetooth, where of course I understand now your iPad nor iPhone does appear in the list. Now I know, open your iPad, go to settings, bluetooth, hold the channel button on your keyboard for 3 seconds, it will start to blink, it appears on your iPad, click to connect, type in code on your keyboard…. And your done.
