You can ask as nicely as you want, but an iPhone 6s cannot and will not ever be able to update to iOS 16 or anything higher. If you need a higher level iOS version, your ONLY option is to retire your very old iPhone and buy a newer, more modern iPhone. That's the ONLY option you have.

If your device is running iOS 12.5.7, it can not be an iPhone 6S. Instead, it has to be an iPhone 5S, 6 or 6 Plus. Neither can be updated further.
