Finder error code -36

iMac 3 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i5running latest OS, 3.4.1 (c) - When trying to delete files from the desktop the following appears on a regular basis. "The finder can't complete the operation because some data in <file> can't be read or written." When I restart the computer it's fine again until the next time. We have three users running their own partition.

Does anybody know what the problem might be and how it can be solved without having ton restart the machine? Many thanks

Oliver

error -36 is I/O Error.

I suspect the drive is corrupted

An in / out error—for a file more than one bad block on the disk , the drive does make multiple attempts at error correction.

The drive is working in a state of failure— I would replace the drive.

Because your iCloud (iCloud and iCloud Drive is different) is almont full. If you want to fix this problem, there are 3 ways:

  1. buy more apple iCloud.(Yes, Apple is so disgusting now. But this is easist way.)
  2. Parallels Desktop Virtual OS is the easist way copy/move the data out iCloud Drive folders before you close the iCloud Drive. Mac root user can't move the data out iCloud Drive folders.
  3. close the iCloud Drive.( But this could be very dangerouse if you click the wrong button, you lose a lot of data in your computer, and you can not find them back from the iCloud Drive, or download them from the iCloud Drive again is very slow and difficult. Especially when you close the iCloud Drive, MacOS will ask you to keep a copy, and it will upload the data to the iCloud, uploading is very slow. If you cancel it in the wrong button, you will lose the data. )

Above all, all this trouble is caused from Apple want to you keep using iCoud and buy iCloud.
