When I email something from this Mac, I want it to come from my actual email, not my iCloud email address.

When people receive my emails from the iCloud email, their response goes there instead of my preferred email account.

Confused about iCloud email I have had iCloud since it started and .mac and .me before that. I have them set up with aliases (including one with the iCloud alias. I have been forwarding them to my regular email address which has been offered by my internet/cable provider for probably 15 years. That provider just announced that they are dropping email and suggesting I go to G-Mail or someone like that. I would like to use my iCloud email address, but confused about setting that up with Mail. (My Apple ID is different) The iCloud email address that I want to use is already set up as an alias, I just need to make sure that once my provider-based email goes away that I will get the emails sent to the iCloud address.

Am I supposed to have a separate email for my iMac like a Mac email address or just one that I’ve been using for my iPhone? Are you supposed to have your own Mac email address even though I have an iCloud email address? If so, what do I need to do in Laymans terms to create that account for my iMac since I don’t know what I’m doing I don’t want to ruin my computer in settings because I’ve been known to do things like that in the past, so I don’t mess with them. I know I learned to ask questions.

You can specify the default account for new email, instead of the default "best account"

"Send new Messages from: [ Automatically Select Best account ]
