Accessibility Spoken Content

Used spoken content to read books on my iPad Air … this is an amazing feature.

It used to automatically advance to the next in the book. Unfortunately, now it only reads one page at a time, and I am required to advance every page.

I have tried turning off the settings, and turning back on, confirmed that the iPad and iPhone settings are consistent but no luck. The iPad still does not work as it did in the recent past.

Interestingly enough my iPhone continues to advance book pages automatically.

Any suggestions on what can be done? I miss using this feature, especially when my eyes are tired and I still want to read.

Best regards,

jdluv

Am no expert in this area, yet your question deserves some response:

Do not know if anything below will be helpful to you, yet via the contact info. at the bottom you may receive help:

Seems by default Spoken Content reads what is highlighted on your screen.

Use VoiceOver in apps on iPad - Apple Support

says:

"Read PDF documents

In the Books and Files apps, you can use VoiceOver to read PDF documents. VoiceOver even describes detailed information—such as forms, tables, and lists."

How to: Change your VoiceOver settings on iPad - Apple Support

says:

Customize VoiceOver settings for an activity

You can customize a group of VoiceOver settings for an activity, such as programming.

Apply the settings automatically when you open certain apps or by adjusting the rotor.

  1. Go to Settings  > Accessibility > VoiceOver > Activities.
  2. Choose an existing activity or tap Add Activity.
  3. Adjust settings for speech, verbosity, and braille.
  4. Choose Apps or Context to automatically apply the settings for this activity.
