The M2 Macs can no longer be used at all once the internal SSD fails. Is this correct?

I want to buy a Mac Studio with M2 processor but not if the internal SSD dying bricks the entire Mac. So is it true if the internal SSD dies you can't boot from an external SSD drive? I can't believe Apple would do such a disservice to it's Mac users.

Booting M1/M2 Mac mini from an external bootable USB 3.0 SSD There is no way I would pay the ridiculously inflated prices for more RAM or storage so my only choice is the base model. The main concern I have about the base model Mac mini is the 8GB RAM necessitating a lot of swapping when using apps like Final Cut Pro. I am not bothered by the small 256GB SSD as I already have 3 USB 3.0 SSDs totalling 2.275GB. I want to know what happens with swap memory if I boot the mini from one of those SSDs. Would the swapping occur on the mini's internal SSD or on the large bootable external SSD? It would be great if it occurred on the large, cheap external SSD but I suspect it may still continue on the overly expensive, irreplaceable internal one. Can anyone clarify the situation for me?

Apple SSD dead I have a MacBook Pro model A1707 EMC 3072 and its Apple ssd is dead. I want to fix it by instaling Mac OS siërra in a other ssd but let Apple ssd be the only one that pops up in de disk select menu. How can I get more disks to download Mac OS on?
