Please help me fix my airpods

I had previously lost my airpod and so did my brother. One day i wanted to listen with both so i put them both into one airpod case and resettled them. Now me and my brother can’t listen to music individually because every time i connect my airpods it disconnects his and plays the same audio i’m playing. And when he connects it does the same thing. I already tried forgetting the device on both accounts and removing them and it did absolutely nothing. It’s still connected to one and i think it’s cause we both have one airpod please help
