Super high screen time

My iPhone 12 is telling me that I have been on my phone for 5 hours today and 7 hours yesterday. Yesterday when I checked my daily screen time it said about 3 hours. Both of these times are impossible as both days I have been busy. This just started today. Any reason why it’s happening

Hey EmmyB81,

We're grateful that you posted here so we can help you figure this out.

Are you tracking your screen usage by utilizing the Screen Time feature built into your iPhone or are you reviewing the information in Settings > Battery to see how long you have been using the screen? The way we approach troubleshooting this can vary depending on where you're seeing this info which is why we ask. Either way, we'll share some information for both cases below and hopefully the information we share will shed some light on this for you.

If you are using the Screen Time feature, double check to see if you may have enabled the "Share Across Devices" feature which will share Screen Time settings and reports across all of your Apple devices. Here is how you would check for that:

Use Screen Time on all your devices
To share your Screen Time settings and reports across all your devices, make sure you’re signed in with the same Apple ID on each device and Share Across Devices is turned on.
1. Go to Settings  > Screen Time.
2. Scroll down, then turn on Share Across Devices.

You can find that info here, as well: Keep track of your screen time on iPhone - Apple Support

On the other hand, if you are seeing this information in Settings > Battery, then you may want to double check for the "Screen On and Screen Off" time. Some of the time your device is used may occur while the screen is off, for things like listening to Music with the device locked or for background processes like Mail or Messages. The time you see listed under "Screen On" would be time where you were actively using the iPhone with the display unlocked.

This article goes into further detail on some of that info you can access: Check the iPhone battery health and usage - Apple Support

We hope this information is helpful!

Have a great day.
