you have to use apple original Multiport adapter USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter - Apple or USB-A to USB-C

dongle. other vendors hubs and adapters simple does not supports usb bus drive feature.

just tested today with Apple Multiport adapter on my m2 air with apple superdrive and it works.

Also it worked with old samsung USB A to USB C adapter that was inside the box of Samsung S9 Plus device.

If you are referring to below image Apple USB-C to USB it should work

Sometimes, you may need to turn the Adaptor Over when attaching to the Computer.

I know, the male connector look the same right side up or upside down but . . .

It sounds weird, but this may make it work 🤞

Then plug in the Apple SuperDrive

Short answer here and to Quote the Original User " 2023 mac mini M2 running Ventura 13.5.

You wrote " same drive used to mount to same mac many times. Thinking it’s 13.4 "

PS: Using Apple computer also running Ventura 13.5 with an Old Lacie DVD Burner USB-A Male connector to M1 Mac Mini USB-C female connectors with that same Apple Adapter

Works on the first try
