A “Recovery Key” has been applied to my account without my knowledge. What can I do to regain access?

After Factory Resetting my iPhone, I remained logged out of my account for a week or so. When I went back to sign into my Apple ID/iCloud, a Recovery Key had been enabled without my knowledge. What can I do to regain access to my account?

iPhone 13, iOS 16

Nothing.

If you didn’t set that Recovery Key, then it would appear a trusted device and its passcode was previously compromised, or the Apple ID was compromised.

With no trusted device and no trusted telephone number, there can be no password reset, and no Recovery Key reset. With a trusted device or with a trusted telephone number, the Recovery Key can be reset.

With no known password and no trusted device or no trusted telephone number and with Recovery Key enabled, this Apple ID is permanently inaccessible.
