DVD/RW drive will not mount to macbook pro using 13.4
A DVD/RW that will mount to pc running windows 10, but not to a macbook pro on ventura 13.4. I've checked finder settings, but all drive does is click. Connection to mac is USB-C to USB adapter

Update to macOS 13.5. Ensure that Finder : Settings : General has the CDs, DVDs, and iPods selected. Try the device again. It will not appear on the Desktop until you have media in the player.
Sometimes a vendor will issue a firmware update for particular operating system compatibility. Pioneer has done this in the past.

Much the same answer as Learned Colleague @ VikingOSX suggested - update to version 13.5
Was this DVD/RW drive indicated as exclusive Windows only by its manufacturer and Windows may have automatically installed a driver for it? Does the vendor offer any firmware updates for the device? Is that an Apple USB-C to USB-A adapter or from another source?

No. It’s been used on this mac before. The only change I can think of is tge update to mac is to 13.4
