Make Apple Watch a Trusted Device

Manage your apple id shows the watch is not a trusted device. I assume at some point the message "trust this device" came across and my son hit "no". I am wondering how to redo this so I can make the watch a trusted device.

Hello UGADog,

According to Manage two-factor authentication for your Apple ID from iPhone - Apple Support:

A trusted device is one that can be used to verify your identity by displaying a verification code from Apple when you sign in on a different device or browser. A trusted device must meet these minimum system requirements: iOS 9, iPadOS 13, or OS X 10.11.

Based on that, an Apple Watch is not eligible.

Cheers.

Thanks for the reply. I see what you say, but yet in appleid.apple.com, under Devices, when I select a device it tells me if a device is a trusted device. See image below. This is for my Apple Watch. But my son’s Series 5 is not trusted in the same way and I think this issue may be causing access to our Home accessories.

Thanks for the response. I think you may be right. There was a way to add trusted devices in iOS 15 from Settings > Passwords and Security, I think, but this ability seems to be removed in iOS 16. All I seem to be able to do in iOS 16 is add new trusted numbers. I will get around to starting over with the watch soon as I think he missed approving a prompt to trust the watch when we first set it up.
