My Apple Watch sensor burns

I’ve had my watch for over 2 years and have only recently started getting burn marks on my arm from wearing it. I wear my watch every day and use it for tracking exercise and movement. I’m so disappointed I can’t wear it

If you are feeling the watch is hot on your wrist (or generally hot to touch) a genuine heat burn is possible, but relatively unlikely because the watch battery is only small and does not really have enough power to make the watch hot for long enough to cause burning. You would certainly notice if this was happening, because making the watch hot would discharge the battery fairly quickly and you would be complaining about battery life.

It is more likely you have become sensitive to something in the watch or watch band, or possibly some kind if irritant like a soap or detergent trapped under the watch and not easily rinsed away. Take a look at this support document, and if you are unsure then consult your doctors who can look at the relevant arm with their own eyes.

My husband's watch sensor has done the same thing. A giant circle burn right where the sensor of the watch sets. He's had it for over a year and a half and never has an issue but suddenly he can no longer wear it? Apple knows full well of this issue but does not do anything about it. Now I'm noticing my sensor is overheating more and affecting my wrist as well. So many others have had this issue. Such a shame.

I’ve been burnt twice recently by my Apple Watch. I have worn 3 different series of the Apple Watch and this never happened until I got the series 8. I have been burned more than once now and it’s pretty disturbing this time. I had a blister and everything. The darker spot is from earlier last week, the blister that I put treatment on. The red ring is from tonight when I felt it burn my skin.

I just received my Apple Watch (1-21-24) and have extreme irritation (I would call it a burn) from it only after a week of wearing it. I am disappointed as I wanted it to record my sleep and to record my movement. I have switched arms and locations through out the day and night trying to have it rest close yet not tight to record sleep patterns and walking patterns.

Does anyone know if you can wear a protective cloth to prevent more damage to the skin? Or is the only thing to do is to try to return the watch and chalk it up to my skin not tolerating it.

Can you get a refund of this is happening to your skin?

Any ideas will help.

Thanks

My brand new series 9 watch arrived on Saturday. Today is Thursday, take a look at what I noticed on my arm when I took it off for bed last night (I don't sleep with it on)

This burn on my wrist wasn't there at lunchtime as I'd taken it off for a shower. I don't let my watch get wet if I can help it.

I previously owned a series 4 & this didn't happen?

What's going on here & what are apple doing to fix this issue?

I can see by this thread im far from the only person who has been burnt by the sense on their watch.

These watches are extremely expensive so I'm very disappointed to have been injured by wearing it. How else are you supposed to wear a watch?

I have had my watch for 2 years and two days ago when i removed my watch at bedtime, there was a red spot on my arm. At the time i thought maybe my band was too tight that day. Then by morning it was super red. I never sleep or shower in my watch so it never gets "wet" . There is a perfect red burn mark on my arm where the back of the watch rests. I am going to not wear it for a few days to see if my arm gets better. I clean that watch with alcohol wipes so when i cleaned it there was no real dirt of substance on the wipe. I am at a loss as to what to do..these watches are not cheap and i hate that i can't wear it all of the sudden. Anyone else able to wear theirs again after your arm healed?
