Is it possible to fix this noise?

Hi all,

* I have a Macbook Pro A1425 2013 i7

* I was attempting to install Windows using Boot Camp

* To overcome an issue with the install, I found a recommendation online suggesting that I restart the PC and enter the following key combination during startup

Option-Command-P-R

* This did not go well

* Specifically, since then the PC makes this dreadful noise when I power the PC on

(Please pardon me that you have to turn the volume up a bit to hear the sound)

* I've since noticed that this noise doesn't only appear during boot; this noise seems to appear instead of when other noises such as a beep would normally be made by the MacBook

* Can anyone please advise me how I fix this?

In case anyone should read this in future, I took the Apple Store to get their diagnosis
As expected the issue is the speakers
Options are:

1) replace the speakers (if you can find someone who has speakers of this model in stock)

2) Use external speakers / headset

3) Live with the issue

Option-Command-P-R is a standard keyboard command that resets your NVRAM or PRAM. As such, it's use is unlikely to cause a physical condition or noise; it's a purely electronic evolution. But you just never know.

Option-Command-P-R: Reset NVRAM or PRAM.

I have no idea what could be making the sound other than a fan or some other component with a moving part such as a HDD. Not likely it's an HDD sound ... they're more subtle when failing but, again, you just never know.

Your post is a tad confusing, "PC" generally is used to refer to a Windows computer even though "PC" does literally stand for "Personal Computer" which a Mac certainly is.

Thanks for your reply. Could it be some sort of damage to the speaker or some sort of damage to a sound card?

Re use of 'PC', taking your comment onboard I've just gone to edit the original message I posted. It seems though that regrettably there's no such edit option. My apols to anyone confused by what I posted. Where I typed PC, please consider that in this case to mean Macbook.

Right at initial startup, the only possible sound is the startup chime sound, generated (brute-force) in software after the Mac passes the [momentary] Power-On Self test. An error tone is possible (again, generated brute force). A substantial portion of a minute must pass before the system sound drivers are up and running to play anything else.

If a blown speaker, my experience with that is the sound tries to play, but becomes ugly. The sound you posted could also be caused by debris in the cooling fans.

On the forums, after about 10 minutes of no more changes, "the ink dries" and can no longer be changed directly, only amended by adding an erratum slip as you have done.
