Music keyboard works with iPhone, but not with iPad: Why?

I have an iPhone 11 Pro and a 6th generation iPad. I also have an original Apple Camera Adapter to access USB devices.

Since I play music, I want to use my music apps (mostly from Korg) with both iPhone and iPad. However, one app (Korg iM1) only works on iPad.

So, I attached two (class-compliant) keyboards: A Casio CDP-S100 and a Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol A25. Both work with my iPhone (as long as I also supply power to the Camera Adapter), but none works with my iPad.

Is my iPad too old? Or what could be the reason?

Thanks for any hints!
