MacBook Air M1 screen cracked with out any apparent reason and impact

I’m Karthik Gorrepotu, purchased MacBook Air M1 2020 in December 2022

Had a great experience with it until I got to saw my MacBook’s internal screen got broken without any reason.

I had used the MAC night and closed it properly but when I opened it in the morning I came to notice two strange lines on the horizontal bottom part of my screen. Immediately I have booked a walk-in appointment to the apple support store and got my laptop checked and there the technicians said that the screen have been broken internally the corner of the hinge where there is no impact on the screen or at any point on the MacBook.

They to wondered how this happened they I started searching about this in the the google and I have found out that many people across the world have found this issue as common which they can’t expect from a premium brand like apple. Even my MacBoook is under warranty. The customer support people denied replacing the screen.You can’t even find the damage with your naked eye. Wondered how this happened with out any sign of impact. Found so many similar incidents being reported in the Apple discussions forum.

Please help me out.

Better use a external display instead of repairing the display

Take it to an Apple Store. Be advised, the last screen repair cost I saw without warranty protection was slightly over $800US. That can vary depending on your particular Mac.

Get an estimate for Apple. This community cannot handle physical damage.

It just happened to me yesterday . I am a student . I used it until the very end of school and it was fine but then when I reach home , trying to do my revision with my Mac , the internal screen crack just appear . Nothing was done to it at all . Nothing hit as well . I was just holding it with my hand in a laptop bag all the way back from school .

They should really look into this matter . It’s so unfair for the user . I was so shocked to know that MacBook Air is so fragile . How are we suppose to take care of it when it spoil without any reason :(

I had exactly the same problem with my MacBook. I woke up and opened my laptop, then I saw two colourful lines on my screen. It didn’t fall or there was no accident like that. Ispot refused to help me and fix the screen. My laptop was bought 8 months ago. It was macbook air M2.

Same thing happened to me! Purchased July 2022. Two nights ago I worked on it till early morning, shut the case and went to sleep. When I turned it on the next day there were lines along the right edge and bottom edge of the screen. By night time the whole screen was glitching uncontrollably and had a dark shadow on most of it. I don’t understand. It wasn’t dropped, subjected to heat, nor do I EVER put ANYTHING on it.
