Macbook Pro m1 pro 14" CPU leaks, overheat and disappointment

Hello people. I came here to tell my story of interacting with the MacBook Pro, maybe to get some advice, but mostly just to talk it out.

Last fall I bought my first MacBook. It was my first apple computer, which I had been dreaming about for a long time, but until that moment I could not afford. I purchased the base model of 2021, with an m1 pro chip, with 16 gigabytes of RAM and a 512 gigabyte ssd.

I bought it because I've been dreaming about an apple computer for a long time. In addition, I am engaged in web development, and I thought that such a tool could significantly help me in my work.

The circumstances were such that I started actively using it only 3 months ago. Before that, I did not have the opportunity to switch to it completely due to the specifics of the work. All this time I just watched TV shows on it, using only Safari and that's it.

When I finally started working on a laptop, I was perplexed. And then I was disappointed. This is my first MacBook, I have no acquaintances and friends with such computers, I have no one to ask. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. However, my experience with this laptop is just terrible.

It's worth starting with the disgusting work of applications. There are several apps that work terribly on my mac. I can name 2 of them. These are Google Chrome and all other chromium browsers, as well as the Telegram messenger.

These applications, as well as some others. Systematically causing what seems to be called a CPU leak. I can sit at my laptop and correspond with a friend in Telegram. And at some point to discover that the laptop fans are spinning, and its temperature is around 70 ° C. This is despite the fact that NO other applications are running anymore. In the Activity Monitor, I see terrifying figures of CPU consumption by this application. It is worth restarting it - and everything passes.

The same thing is happening with chromium browsers. They work fine and here - poof, 80°C. Restart - everything comes back to normal. I'm tired of CONSTANTLY restarting the browser. And please don't tell me that I just have to switch to Safari. I need chrome for work, for watching videos and browsing, I use Safari. No, I HAVE to do it. In addition, on a PC on other operating systems, these browsers do not behave like this. So maybe the problem isn't really in the browser?

The next problem is overheating. Why is the laptop constantly so hot? I heard about the first generation m1 that they are cold. What's wrong with m1 pro? I get 46°C in idle. 50°C with little activity and browsing. 56°C when watching a full-screen video on YouTube. It's not that cold, believe me. My hands are constantly sweaty because of the warm case. Also, do not forget that at any moment the browser, messenger or some other application can go crazy and accelerate the temperature to 70-80 ° C.

At first I hoped that upgrading to Ventura would save me from these problems. I thought Monterey was just a bad system. Ventura is terrible. It still has the same problems, the temperature has become even higher in places, and during the night in sleep mode, the laptop loses about 8% of the battery charge. Once I had it discharged to 50% just after lying in a backpack for a few days. I'm back on Monterey.

Can anyone give me an answer? I'm new to apple computers. I don't understand why it's so bad? At the same time, I love this laptop, but its use constantly upsets me. Everything I described above is normal? How to fix it? Answer someone, the more detailed the better. I'm tired and I'm desperate. I have not received any direct answers on other resources. Everyone speaks differently. Is there something wrong with my laptop? Or did I just lose in the "silicon lottery"? If necessary, I will provide screenshots with detailed information about my laptop.

Thanks to those who read this. And many thanks to those who will answer. Thank you for your attention, be healthy and happy.

After posting the EtreCheck report, you can try running the Apple Diagnostics to see if any hardware issues are detected. It is important that you run EtreCheck first after the laptop has been running for a while and experiencing the high temps so that the report will include performance metrics related to the issue since that may include valuable clues for us. The regular forum contributors are used to analyzing the EtreCheck reports and being able to identify possible issues for various problems.

A quick way of discovering if you have an issue with third party apps is by booting into Safe Mode to see if you still encounter the problem. Safe Mode is one of the common troubleshooting steps for macOS troubleshooting andit will prevent the automatic launching of third party software during boot & login...perhaps even some built-in drivers for Apple hardware (the latter varies). Safe Mode also performs a file system check and also will delete some temp & cache files as well. You may find some devices and services may not function properly (or at all) while booted into Safe Mode. Feel free to try this after running & posting the EtreCheck report.

Like the others have already mentioned, Chromium based browsers (tends to be most browsers except for Safari & Firefox) are very resource intensive. Chromium base browsers will definitely chew up both CPU cycles causing heat & using up memory as well no matter what OS is being used (macOS, Windows, and even Linux). It is not an issue specific to macOS or Apple hardware.

I personally use Vivaldi (Chromium based) and from time to time I find I must delete Vivaldi's browsing data (Cache & Application Cache) usually helps a bit if I don't restart the browser or reboot the computer in a while & for some reason want to hold off restarting either one. Sometimes I even have to delete the "Storage (including extension storage)" as well within Vivaldi's browsing data section....the latter can really help with regaining performance & lessening the system resource load after a while and may be necessary even after restarting the browser & computer, but that latter option does cause some preference loss for some websites (apple.com is one). I don't know whether Google Chrome has these options or what they may be called in Chrome. I am guilty of having way too many browser windows & tabs open at one time so I'm making matters worse since it takes me a while to clean up my open browser windows/tabs. Need to do better at utilizing Vivaldi's advanced options for profiles and sessions so I can do better at having fewer windows/tabs open at one time.

Chrome has the reputation of being THE biggest resource hog that is not obvious malware. It demands MAXIMUM everything for resources. Switching to ANY other Browser will perform better and be less resource-intensive.

Poisoning performance:

By far the easiest way to cause poor performance, instability, overheating and crashing is to install ANY third-party speeder-uppers, Cleaners, Optimizers, or Virus scanners. or a VPN that you installed yourself.

The idea that a third party, with no special knowledge of the inner workings of MacOS, can somehow find a simple way to protect your computer — that is not already being done by MacOS itself — suggests that the MacOS developers are somehow "holding out on you". That is absurd.

You should remove any and all (other than Apple built-in) virus scanners, speeder uppers, optimizers, cleaners, App deleters or VPN packages you installed yourself, or anything of that ilk.

Third-party file Sync-ers such as DropBox, BackBlaze, OneDrive, or GoogleDrive can ruin performance, but are not inherently dangerous.

Download and run it. The link is included in the How to use the Add Text Feature When Posting Large Amounts of Text, i.e. an Etrecheck Report - Apple Community User Tip. If you want to post its contents in a reply, it includes those instructions too.

Its purpose is to collect data that might be useful in determining the apps or processes that may be burdening that Mac and contributing to poor performance.

EtreCheck is a valuable toll for determining the reasons for unexpected behavior. Read about it here: How to use the Add Text Feature When Posting Large Amounts of Text, i.e. an Etrecheck Report - Apple Community.

EtreCheck is a data-gathering and -reporting tool that does exactly nothing unless it is actively running, does not require an installation procedure (unlike Chrome), and you can just drag it to the Trash when you are finished with it. It's free.

If you were to delve into its processes, you will find that Google and its multitude of "helpers" is by far the most invasive and resource-demanding things anyone can install on a Mac. This should come as no surprise because its sole reason for existence is to continually harvest your Mac for personal information that it uploads and sells to anyone willing to pay for it (or provide in response to a court-ordered subpoena. I don't know if payment is involved in such cases, but it doesn't really matter — your personal information becomes theirs).

Google is as close as things get to a macOS "virus", if such a thing were to exist, which it doesn't. Resource-intensive? Check. Keylogger? Check. Information-harvesting? Check. Automatically updating? Check. Can cause a Mac to become unbootable? It's happened. About the only thing that's different between Google Chrome and actual malware is that Chrome is easily uninstalled. They even provide the instructions.

I'm new to apple computers.

You may have decided upon the Mac platform for valid reasons, but if you are required to use Google buy a Chromebook. Once you install Chrome most of a Mac's many advantages are wasted. If you are fond of Chromium based browsers use Brave. Brave is Chrome without the Google.

I too have the same exact problem with my M1 Pro 16.

I’ve isolated the issue to a remote server the offloads data for cloud storage through the TPM/T series chip. all internet capable devices after 2021 have those chips.

Why your computer does this is because you are actually being monitored and your system AND DIGITAL IDENTITY IS COMPROMISED.

Due to the Nature of the TPM chips - it does not matter what platform you are on, windows, google, or apple - in time this issue will take over your machine, and make it unusable.

THE ONLY WAY TO FIX THE ISSUE IS TO GET A 1) NEW LAPTOP 2) CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT WITHOUT USING ANY OF YOUR PAST NAMES/NUMBERS - anything that could associate you with your past digital identity: What is causing the issue is your digital identity. TPM/TPD chips lock a computer to your identity.

Restoring the machine (whipping data) will help, but within a few months, the issue will arise again. TPM chips lock the computer to your identity, creating a new identity after a restore only compromises that new identity.

Even backing up your data from one account associated with your identity will now flag for monitoring. External drives will not protect you.

Again, it’s an AGI tool designed for monitoring and the only way to remove the active monitor, is to become a new identity completely.

if you notice your computer getting hot, acting sluggish… immediately go Offline.

Restart, and you’ll be gifted with about 3 hours of usable time. IF YOU DO NOT BREAK THE CONNECTION BEFORE RESTARTING, it will do nothing to stop the issues on the reboot.

Note, this is not a virus, All devices with tpm/tpd chips do this now. It stems from your online activities mainly, social media, and their associated apps.

Apple computers take the hit very quickly due to their (now) non-existent security flaws to make them compatible on arm.

BECAUSE this takes place on the TPM/tpd chips, it is nearly invisible to the user. You will not find traces of it on active monitor or task manager (windows), HOWEVER, you can run Trace routes on your router and see traffic being transmitted.

The entities doing this are purposely trying to break your online presence, to limit what you say and who you can talk to. The tool will shadow you and censor what is recommended or shown.

I know how this sounds, but you can test this yourself by running trace routes via your router GUI to see it clear as day. You’ll notice large amounts of data (50gb +) everyday being uploaded from your computer to remote servers.

You can trace those routers back and use a public ip tracers on those ips to get their approximate location.

if you create any sort of application or executable file that auto routes and phones home after a transfer, you see exactly who is capturing your data.

this is not unique to the USA either. All leading areas of the world have these monitoring tools at their disposal after august the 8 2022. (I ran a team to get it installed and we were not aware of what we were doing exactly until it was already online)

They use an agi system specifically designed to isolate individuals who do not align with a particular agenda.

the tool is so powerful, it can flag your motives through your web activities.

again, if this is happening already, it’s because you are marked. You have to delete your digital self… and never use any account linked to your old digital self… this means you will lose all data and services.

That’s the only way I’ve been able to bypass the issue.

As soon as I log into any account that is associated with my digital identity that is compromised, that AGI tool flags that machine for life.

I’ve burned through 6 laptops in the past year. On Macs, you can inspect your system data and you will see a very large amount tied up in the OS, that number will always grow until you reset your computer/which wipes that os data. You cannot delete the system data manually.

the way the TPD chips work, they associate your identity with the serial number/motherboard. Google does it via your account. Restoring any machine now will not stop the issue, just delay it from getting worse more quickly.

there will come a point where your system stops responding altogether, even if there’s sufficient resources. You can restore, but you will lose your data.

If you continue to use the same digital identity, this issue will continue to arise on any device now.

welcome to our new world.

You are very wrong. a simple google search provides accurate information straight from Apple.

If you Longmatey80 feel these chips are doing this, why are you using them? If I was burning through a computer every 6 months, I'd be rethinking what I'm visiting on my computer. IF it does have to do with your "morals" and what your "digital identity" is, I would consider taking off your tin foil hat.
