iPhone stolen in the US, now in China. Getting scary phishing messages. What do I do?
My iPhone 14 Pro was stolen in the US last month. I marked the device as lost, set it to erase and got myself a new iPhone. This month I got a ‘find my’ notification about the phone being in Shenzhen, China.
Since then I’ve been getting a lot of phishing messages and calls though iMessage (since they have access to my iCloud ID).
I’m a bit paranoid about my data being compromised (esp banking, etc.) since my phone hasn’t been erased yet. The phishing messages are usually trying to get my iCloud pw or to get me to remove the stolen iPhone from ‘my devices’ (pic below).
Whats my best course of action? Should I stay put and wait for my phone to be erased? How come it’s not erased yet? Appreciate any inputs!
