iMessage & Text Photos/Videos Not Downloading

Does anyone have helpful advice on how to fix IOS 15 (not sure which version of updates it originally occurred upon) update glitch that caused my iPhone XR iMessage & Text permanent issue. For 2 months all photos & videos I receive come in without properly automatically downloading. I have to manually download every photo & video. Not only is it time consuming but I often have to use my Verizon data services (not on unlimited data plan) to manually download all photos & images. My settings are correct for the automatic downloading my phone always did prior to the IOS update that caused this glitch. I’ve researched this on my own & contacted Apple all the way up to their Senior tech support. They are aware of this issue being caused by their IOS updates & have not yet figured out a resolution. I’m not willing to reset my phone or risk anything that can lose data, as it usually doesn’t even fix the problem. Appreciate anyone’s help, advice, or input!

It sounds like you're looking for some help with iOS 15 in regards to your photos and videos. We can help.

When it comes to unexpected behavior, the only way to fix it is by applying a software update that addresses the issue. The current iOS version is 16.6, and you can review which issues have been corrected by the last couple updates here: Apple security releases.

That said, if you don't feel comfortable updating until your data is backed up, we understand. You can follow this guide to Transfer photos and videos from your iPhone or iPad to your Mac or PC.

Then when you are ready, you can Update iOS on iPhone.

If you have already spoken to Apple and they confirmed the issue, it may be best to continue working with them.

You can reach back out to them by going to Get Support.

They will take a closer look and check on available options.

Thanks for your reply! I appreciate your advice but I’ve already updated every time since the issue started & I’m on the latest IOS 16.6. The issue exists permanently without any fix from multiple updates following. What I’m not willing to do is reset my iPhone when Apple Support confirmed this is a known IOS update issue they’ve been unable to find a fix for after several months. Hope that helps clarify!

Hi Omar,

Appreciate your reply! Apple is providing no resolution after waiting over 2 months & religiously updating all IOS versions to current. No timeline on a resolution & not appearing they know how to fix their own glitch. Hence the reason for me reaching out on this forum.
