I have a phone number that is registered as an Apple ID, but I have now purchased a MacBook Air and when I try to register my phone number to my new MacBook Air, it says that my phone number is already in use with another account. What can I do?

You will need to login with your apple id on your MacBook. not create a new Apple ID with your phone number. Instead of register, choose login with existing Apple ID instead
