IMac does not accept correct appleID password for iCloud

I have logged out and logged in in safe mode and tried entering the Apple ID password for iCloud, and it will not accept it. I am using the correct password as reset on iPhone. It works on iPhone, but will not work on iMac.

Please note I have already tried the safe mode tip. Twice in fact.
