Weather alerts appear on the top line of the screen which is fine but the audio comes through superimposed on the program's audio making it very difficult to hear. Is there any way to silence the audio from the weather alert?

Are you watching a live-streaming app? That sounds like an emergency alert of the type I see on broadcast television. If it's something like that, no, you can't do anything about it.
For better or for worse, those alerts are designed to make it impossible to ignore them.
Thanks. That's what I was afraid of. On broadcasts (Spectrm until I recently switched to Your Tube TV) is was even worse but now with You Tube TV (using an Apple TV) the single line at the top would be fine if I could just silence the audio. I noticed it watching a recorded news program on You Tube TV. The super imposed audio is the only problem.
Of course I agree. Safety is more important. But I think the scrolling line at the top of the screen "should be" adequate. Perhaps an occasional "loud" blast to call attention to it would be even more useful than the almost continuous lower volume babble of the current alerts.
I do not disagree with you. I find it especially annoying when the alert is for a neighboring county or state.
