USB SuperDrive Inoperable

2021 24" iMac M1 running Big Sur 11.7.4

iMac Hardware shows a USB 2.0 Hub connected with USB SuperDrive attached

When I insert a disc, the SuperDrive does not accept it.

When I force the CD all the way in with a paperclip the SuperDrive spits the disc out

iMac 24″, macOS 11.7

* MacBook Air (11-inch, Early 2015)
* MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2012 - 2015)
* MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2012 - 2015)
* MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, Early 2015 – 2017)
* iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5‑inch, 2019)
* iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017)
* iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, Late 2015)
* iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2019–2020)
* iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017)
* iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014 - 2015)
* iMac Pro (2017)
* Mac Studio (2022)

That information, and more, can be found here: Apple USB SuperDrive - Apple iMac devices from 2021 do not appear on the list for compatibility, which is most likely why you are unable to play CD discs successfully with the Apple USB SuperDrive.

Take care.

Thank you for the helpful information. The superdrive is connected to a hub that also connects my headphones. The headphones work. Also I successfully connect other devices through the hub. This is an inconvenience as I basically use the drive to rip CDs to add to my music collection. I guess I will have to stop buying CDs at thrift stores unless I can circumvent this issue.

Thank you again.
