child's apple id not working

I've recently created an apple id for my child so i can share and control access to the internet/apps etc. Its now continually asking on her phone- for the password- when i enter it it says its incorrect. when i click to reset it says that she doesn't have an account. I've tried resetting her password via my phone but nothing happens when i click the 'change password' button. What do i need to do to resolve this?

iPhone 11 Pro, iOS 16

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities! Since you're unable to reset the password in the Family Sharing settings on your iPhone, we suggest ensuring your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS 16:


  1. "Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
  2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
  3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
  4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
  5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now."

-Update your iPhone or iPad


Outdated software can cause things to misbehave. If your software is already updated, try restarting your device or attempting to reset it while connected to another network (ex: Wi-Fi, cellular).
