iPhone placed facetime call to random number on it's own, is it being remotely controlled?

Last night at 3 am my iPhone suddenly started opening a bunch of tabs on safari on its own, and then FaceTime called a random number on its own.

I quickly cancelled the face time call but it’s weird because this number is not in my contacts or call history at all. It was really freaky too because it appeared to be a legitimate number.

I was not touching the iPhone at all, do I have a virus?

Hello marasca,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

It's more likely there is a touch issue with your display. Let's restart your device. Even if this is a simple step it may help:

"How to restart your iPhone X, 11, 12, 13, or later

  1. Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears. The volume button is located on the left side of the device, and the side button is located on the right
  2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
  3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo."

Additional details can be found here: Restart your iPhone

If the issue persists, can you provide a few more details? How often does this happen? Are you using a screen protector? Was the screen wet? Also, what is your exact iOS version?

Cheers!
