Unwanted calendar subscription

I subscribed to a calendar feed from a public website, and instead of creating a new calendar, it downloaded everything to my home calendar on all my devices (computer, phone, iPad)! The admin for the website doesn't seem able to take me off the list. Do I have to delete my iCal app, thereby losing all the important dates I actually want, to get rid of all this junk? Any ideas?
