Photos in my IMessages not all showing up

I had my phone repaired and did a backup prior too and now the pictures in my messages are not all there! I’ve reset the message in iCloud numerous times but it has not fixed the issue. In one of my messages it goes all the way back to 2016.

Hey there kidiffy,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities.

To get started, did you have Messages in iCloud enabled before creating a backup? If so, then we do want to let you know that your messages would not be included in the backup since the information is already being synced with iCloud.

After setting your iPhone back up, you'll just want to ensure that you have Messages in iCloud enabled, and be sure that you stay connected to a fast Wi-Fi network so that your messages and the contents can download from iCloud.

About your Messages and Voice Memos data
With Messages in iCloud and Voice Memos in iCloud*, your text messages and voice recordings automatically upload to iCloud. They aren’t included in your backup. After you restore your device from iCloud Backup, stay connected to Wi-Fi so that your text messages and voice recordings can download.

It could take some time to complete this process depending on how many photos/videos need to download from iCloud.

Keep us updated on the results.

Thanks.

kidiffy,

We'd advise keeping your iPhone connected to Wi-Fi as much as possible and give it an another 24 to 48 hrs. If these conversation threads go back several years, it can take some time for the photos to restore from the backup. Keeping your iPhone on Wi-Fi speeds up this process.

If after a couple more days, the issue persists, contact Apple Support to take a closer look.
