You may have a setting for Closed Captions turned on.

Verify through: Settings﹥Accessibility﹥Subtitles and Captioning﹥Closed Captions and SDH﹥On|Off.

Apple TV has a function for “Accessibility Shortcut”, to activate chosen accessibility functions with one button (triple-click Menu (or Back < )). That may have been activated accidentally? If you have no need for an accessibility shortcut, then you can disable the shortcut by unchecking all of its functions. How to configure the accessibility shortcut on Apple TV - Apple Support
