Siri activates but only takes typed input

Hello,

I've read the standard Siri Not Working links and they don't seem to cover my situation. My Hey Siri is activated and set up, as well as Press Home for Siri, and Allow Siri When Locked. I have an iPhone 6S.

Nevertheless, when I press the home button, it only pops up a text box for typing. Since I mostly use Siri to compose message while I'm driving, this does me no good at all.

Does anyone have advice for this specific situation?
