Can’t see old groupchat on messenger after getting iphone 14, despite being already added

I recently got the iphone 14 pro, along with a new apple ID. On my previous phone, an iphone xr, I was part of a groupchat on messenger, which I planned to join again on the new device (using the same phone number). Unfortunately the chat doesn’t appear in messenger despite my contact being removed and re-added, and I don’t receive any notifications when someone sends something. One-on-one chats work fine. Can anyone help fix this?

Hey tearkettle,

Do you know if your old group message was tied to your previous Apple ID account? Also, did you have another Apple ID account previously? If yes, try signing in to that account and see if you can enable Messages under iCloud by going to Settings > Your name on top > iCloud > Messages.
