External Drive Self Ejecting

All I need a fix to this. I have a Mac Studio with an external Drive that self ejects. I have researched fixes and nothing seems to be working. Is this an Apple bug???? I have done the standard attempts to fix such as resets, modifying settings etc. Please advise!

One sign of a drive working in a state of failure is it "self ejects."

Try a different drive and compare your results.

If the drive is failing the resolve is to replace it. Drives can fail at anytime.

If you value your user data

3-2-1 Backup Strategy: three copies of your data, two different methods, and one offsite.

More than one device, more than one backup methodology.

Two possibilities:

External drive is failing (see Leroy's post)

Computer has a hardware problem. Try a different port. Same problem? If so, probably a problem with the drive. What type of drive is it?

There is something else you can try. Prevent the Mac from sleeping. Some drives are incompatible with the Mac sleeping. If this fixes the problem, it could mean that the drive and the Mac are ok but the drive is not designed to handle the Mac sleeping.

This is a bug some where and if you look at the history on this Apple has had an issue for a long time with this and no fixes have worked so far.

Well, if you ran the gamut doing your due diligence, to be proactive you can file a bug report /submit your Apple Feedback here:  hhttp://www.apple.com/feedback

The best you can do at this point is keep the software up to date…with any luck a point update will resolve the issue

The current stable release of Ventura including bug fixes,  security updates  is macOS Ventura 13.5

Thanks Steve and Leroy, Ive done all of that to include getting a new hard drive. The issue is not with the hard drive. Ive done a lot of research on this with settings, resetting, new settings, creative settings, restarting, updating, etc. I thought my previous hard drive was bad, Ive used new cables, Ive tried different connections, I've done a lot and I still get random hard drive ejections. This is a bug some where and if you look at the history on this Apple has had an issue for a long time with this and no fixes have worked so far. I am willing to try new ideas but it has to be something different than what has been done so far. If I sound frustrated it is because I am.
