Apple TV 3rd gen activation failed

does the solution proposed in

i tried in two units and both gave an error

If you mean the procedure with the Configurator app, then yes, that should still work, if there’s nothing else wrong with the box.

  • Note that the USB cable needs to support data transfer. Some cables might be charging only, or proprietary for originally bundled devices.
  • Note that the Apple TV (3rd generation) needs to be powered on its own, directly after connecting to a computer by USB.
